Gaia and Polar Bear Amulet
This bronze Paddler's Amulet measures 1 1/4" H x 3/4" W and comes with a 30" natural leather cord.
This sterling silver amulet was made by Idaho Silversmith and Nature lover, JC Caccia. One side depicts a mother Polar bear (Ursusmaritimus) with cub. For thousands of years, the polar bear has been a key figure in the material, spiritual and cultural life of circumpolar peoples. The loss of Polar bear habitat due to the warming of the Arctic Circle is one of many major issues linked to global climate change. The Polar bear’s well-being (and mankind’s salvation) will require immediate, persistent and collective international effort.
The concave side of this amulet is an image of Gaia, depicted embracing planet Earth. Gaia is one of the main ancient Greek deities and described as the primal Earth Mother Goddess. Gaia’s loving and protective embrace of our beautiful planet offers humans a model to emulate.
